Terms & conditions of service

These terms apply to all chimney sweeping services provided by Hardie Sweeps.

1. Booking and Cancellations

  • We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling.
  • If we arrive at your property at the agreed time and are unable to gain access, or if a cancellation is made upon arrival, a £40 Call-Out/Missed Appointment fee will apply.

2. Parking and Access

  • Our equipment is heavy and bulky. Please ensure there is adequate parking available as close to your property as possible.
  • If parking permits or pay-and-display fees are required, these costs will be added to the final invoice unless you provide a valid visitor permit.
  • Please ensure a clear pathway from the entrance to the fireplace. Remove any fragile items, ornaments, or electronics from the immediate hearth area before our arrival.

3. Fireplace and Flue Condition

  • We assume that your appliance and flue have been installed to current Building Regulations and industry standards.
  • We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing damage, poor installation, or structural defects that become apparent during the sweeping process. If we deem an installation unsafe, we will issue a warning notice and will not complete the sweep until the hazard is rectified.
  • Please do not use your fire or stove for at least 12 hours prior to your appointment. Appliances must be completely cold to be worked on safely.

4. Soot and Waste Disposal

  • We use high-filtration industrial vacuums and clean working practices to ensure no mess enters your home.
  • Under UK waste regulations, soot from domestic chimneys is classified as household waste. We will safely double-bag the soot and place it in your standard black household waste bin.

5. Bird Nests and Wildlife

  • Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is an offence to destroy an active bird's nest. If we discover an active nest in your chimney during the nesting season (typically March to August), we must leave it undisturbed until the young have fledged.
  • A standard call-out fee (£40) will apply if an active nest prevents us from sweeping, and we will advise you on when to rebook for removal.

6. Payment

  • Payment is due in full upon completion of the work.
  • We accept cash, bank transfer, and all major credit/debit cards. Sweeping certificates will only be issued once full payment has been received.

7. Communications and Discount Alerts

  • A contact phone number is required to make a booking. We use it to confirm and coordinate your appointment.
  • By providing your phone number you agree that we may send you text (SMS) notifications, including when a clustering discount (currently 10%) becomes available in your area because we are already booked to work nearby.
  • These messages are infrequent and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP or by contacting us; opting out will not affect any existing booking.
  • We do not sell or share your contact details with third parties for their own marketing.
